With twenty years' experience in the metallurgy industry (steel and aluminium), Frédéric Thomann, 45, has been appointed Deputy Director and Head of the Projects Division at Gaz-Opale. This Arts et Métiers graduate is passionate about his multi-faceted role.
"After eighteen years with ArcelorMittal, where I held a wide variety of positions, and three years as head of the Aluminium Dunkerque foundry, I'm delighted to be joining Gaz-Opale. Energy is one of the great challenges of our time. I'm very pleased to be contributing to the development of liquid natural gas, the cleanest of the fossil fuels, which promotes the energy transition while ensuring the energy complementarity we need. In the past, I've taken care of a wide variety of assignments in maintenance, process development and production. All these experiences enable me to have a global vision of a company like Gaz-Opale. As Deputy Director, I have a medium-term, five-year strategic vision. My position includes technical, financial and human aspects. I love this diversity.
As well as being Deputy Director, I’m also in charge of Gaz-Opale's Projects Division. It's really exciting! I'm delighted to be part of the future of energy. There is no shortage of exciting projects to develop liquid natural gas, but also to prepare for the future with other molecules. For example, the D'Artagnan project could enable us to become a CO2 terminal as well. The fact that the Dunkirk LNG terminal serves both France and Belgium adds a certain complexity, but also makes it even more interesting. As far as I know, this is the only terminal serving two countries in this way. Gaz-Opale has around sixty motivated and inspiring men and women with whom I’m very happy to work on a daily basis.
And while we're on the subject of people, I can tell you that on a personal level, I enjoy running, tennis and above all family outings, as well as reading: spy novels, science fiction, fantasy or comics, I'm a serial reader with very eclectic taste. "

Le 9 septembre, le Green Zeebrugge a battu le record du plus petit bateau venu au terminal : 107.6 mètres de long et 4 909 m3 de GNL chargés.

Cette année encore, Dunkerque LNG était partenaire de la Fabuleuse Factory organisée en septembre. Un bel événement dunkerquois pour valoriser nos industries, ses projets et ses métiers.
